Cory's Security Detail Pullout : A "Bureaucratic Slip-up"
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo apologizes on Corazon "Cory" Cojuangco-Aquino's family about the said security detail pullout before their mom's death saying it's just a "bureaucratic slip-up".
Press Secretary Cerge Remonde apologized to the Aquino family for their anguish over the incident and said the move was not intentional and even they (including the president) were shocked about the news. He also added that the President ordered the Armed Forces and the Philippine National Police to extend all assistance to the Aquino family for the wake and burial of the country's first woman president.
Asked if Mrs. Arroyo will still attend Aquino's wake, he said: "The President will do what she needs to do." He also appealed to the people in Manila not to put any political color to her action.
Where Sen. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, earlier said he is not keen on seeing Mrs. Arroyo at his mother's wake or funeral. He added, however, that he will respect the President if she chooses to go. "She has the freedom to visit. My parents have always inculcated in us since we were very young that as educated individuals, we should not be rude" he said in a previous statement. "If she will come here and wants to pray, she’s welcome and well, thank you) Pero yung point naman na I’m looking forward to it, I’m not." the Senator admitted.
In my opinion, if it's just unintentional, the issue can be ignored. Because maybe a higher person in the military or the police committed the mistake of pulling them our. But one can't help but think that maybe President Arroyo knows this and just wanted to let the bereaved Aquino family know who's on power right now.
Maybe a qoute from Kris Aquino would be a good end to this post.
